Retrofit rainwater harvesting - Bentley Motors
Bentley Motors has always been forward-thinking when it comes to water saving. Bentley’s focus on water usage has spanned 20 years, in that time reducing the amount of water per car by 89%. The amount of water Bentley used in vehicle production has fallen by 55.9% over a 10-year period from 2010-2020, from 21.1 cubic meters to 9.31 cubic meters per vehicle. This saving of almost 12 m3 per vehicle equates to around 150 bathtubs full of water.
In 2019 Stormsaver commissioned Bentley’s first rainwater harvesting system with a 20,000L tank capacity. This was instrumental in achieving the successful reductions in water consumption. But Bentley wanted to go further and harvest even more rainwater, so in 2019 we worked closely with its engineering team to retrofit our flagship product, The StormStation. This, all in one, plug and play unit combines a 15,000L storage tank, two integrated filters and pumps, supplying a pressurised supply of water to toilets and urinals. With a combined capacity of 35,000L, the new system is estimated to save more than 1,800L of water every day. Upon returning to the site for our biannual service visit we found that the system is running at 84% efficiency using mainswater for only 16% of its supply.
